Route 44
Larkhill - Enniskerry
Route 44 is operated by Donnybrook Depot. Traditionally a service between Dublin city centre and Enniskerry in Co. Wicklow, the route became a cross city service in May 2012 as part of Dublin Bus Network Direct. The service is operated by a mixture of buses in the Dublin Bus fleet, mostly double deck vehicles.

As pictured above, before becoming a cross city service, route 44 operated via Ballyogan, a housing estate close to Leopardstown in south Dublin. The new routing since May 13th 2012 means the 44 operates directly to and from the city, bypassing Ballyogan. This area is now served by the green line Luas and by route 63.

Route 44 is one of the busiest routes for tourists, and it’s not uncommon for buses to have full loads to and from the picturesque village of Enniskerry, especially at weekends. It’s also one of the most scenic places to photograph a bus with the rural setting providing a completely different backdrop to it’s other terminus at Larkhill.
